We started making great salsa back in 1989. We had a big silver bowl and when we brought it out, you just knew the smell of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lemons and spices was going to fill the kitchen! It was always a family event, lots of chopping, stirring and taste testing. This family tradition usually signaled a party, barbeque or teachers' gifts at Christmas time.
Our friends loved our salsa and would always say "You should sell this stuff." Little did we know that almost twenty years after we first started making it that selling it would become a reality. Due to downsizing and a hurting economy, our family found our number one bread winner out of work. Turned out to be our number one salsa maker too! No paycheck and bills to pay - we took a chance! We started selling to our friends. The first super bowl order was for over 100 containers. We wondered if people who didn't know us would buy it? In February 2009 we opened a spot at Booths Corners Farmer's Market in Boothwyn, PA. Having no idea how many to make the first weekend we figured out the refrigerator held 300 containers - so that's how many we made! We sold out!
From the farmers market to retail stores throughout Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and of course Delaware, look for us at the Delaware beaches, and we hope to bring Freakin' Fresh Salsa to parts west this year. Our brand is expanding, we now offer low salt mild and hot. Our newest flavors are Chipotle, Pineapple Mango Hot and Pico de Gallo! As we grow we strive to keep the elements that make us who we are - using only the freshest ingredients, making it with care in small batches (we still use a silver bowl it's just a lot bigger!) and deliver it fresh to market. We strive to provide the type of customer service that remembers that without you we don't exist! Another important thing to Freakin' Fresh Salsa is to create jobs! We know what it feels like to be without a paycheck and our hope is to help families provide and live the American dream!
